Alistair, Mary and Tom Fortune wish to extend a warm Highland welcome to all our guests. Glenaveron,
our family home, was originally built in 1904, and then taken down stone by stone and rebuilt
on its present site about 10 years later.
In this peaceful haven, you can enjoy a totally relaxing holiday, exploring the surrounding lochs
and glens, enjoying some of the gentle walks in the grounds and woods around Dunrobin Castle, or simply
watching some of the abundant wildlife-herds of deer, ospreys, birds of prey, etc. For the more
active, this area boasts some of the best golf courses in Scotland, or in the winter there is curling
in the ice rink next door to Glenaveron, or there is hiking amid some of the most beautiful scenery
you could imagine.
We can help with fishing permits for those who enjoy the gentle sport, and enquiries can be made for those
of you who enjoy shooting.
Brora is about 60 miles north of Inverness, a car journey of about one and a quarter hours, and roughly 60 miles south of Scrabster, the ferry terminal for crossing to Orkney. Wick and Thurso are each about 50 miles north of Brora.
Glenaveron is situated in a peaceful area in the village, only a few minutes walk from the golf course, and next to the bowling green and tennis court. Our guests may use the swimming pool at the hotel next door on purchase of a swim ticket.
The house sits amid extensive mature gardens, which are available for the enjoyment of our guests.

We have excellent off-street parking. A drying room is available for wet clothes,
boots and golf clubs, as well as laundry facilities.
If you arrive by bicycle, we can lock it in the garage overnight.
We regret that we do not accept pets.
Glenaveron is a family home, so we do not permit smoking in the house.
